CoreWeave stock rises as Anthropic deal fuels AI growth bets

CoreWeave shares moved higher in premarket on Friday after the company announced a multi-year agreement with artificial intelligence startup Anthropic, adding to a strong run driven by a string of high-profile partnerships.

The stock gained following the news, extending weekly momentum after recent announcements, including a [MONEY value="21000000000" currency="usd" notation="long" replace="false"] deal with Meta Platforms. The latest agreement reinforces investor confidence in CoreWeave’s expanding role in the AI infrastructure ecosystem.

Anthropic deal expands AI customer base

Under the agreement, CoreWeave will provide cloud infrastructure to support the development and deployment of Anthropic’s Claude family of AI models.

The rollout will begin later this year, with capacity expected to scale over time.

Anthropic has been facing surging demand for its AI services and is investing heavily to expand its computing capacity. The company has committed [MONEY value="50000000000" currency="usd" notation="long" replace="false"] toward building new AI data centers in the United States.

CoreWeave Chief Executive Officer Michael Intrator emphasized the shift toward integrated AI platforms.

“AI is no longer just about infrastructure, it’s about the platforms that turn models into real-world impact,” CoreWeave CEO Michael Intrator said in a statement. “We’re excited to work with Anthropic at the center of where models are put to work and performance in production shows up.”

The companies did not disclose financial details of the deal.

Momentum builds with major partnerships

The Anthropic agreement caps a busy week for CoreWeave, highlighting its growing traction among leading AI developers.

Earlier this week, the company announced an expanded [MONEY value="21000000000" currency="usd" notation="long" replace="false"] commitment from Meta Platforms to purchase computing capacity, alongside two bond offerings aimed at funding its expansion.

With Anthropic onboard, CoreWeave now counts the four largest AI model developers—Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and Meta—as customers, according to Intrator. The company also said that nine of the top 10 AI model providers now use its platform.

CoreWeave is part of a new class of cloud providers known as “neoclouds,” which specialize in high-performance computing for AI workloads. These platforms have gained popularity as demand for AI infrastructure outpaces supply from traditional cloud providers.

Scaling infrastructure to meet demand

To support its growing customer base, CoreWeave has been rapidly expanding its data center footprint.

The company operates 43 active data centers and has secured more than 3 gigawatts of power capacity for its server farms.

Its infrastructure includes a range of Nvidia chip architectures deployed across facilities in the United States.

Anthropic has also been building out its ecosystem, recently partnering with Broadcom and Alphabet’s Google to secure 3.5 gigawatts of energy capacity.

As demand for AI services accelerates, access to computing power and energy has emerged as a critical constraint. CoreWeave’s strategy of scaling infrastructure through debt-financed expansion reflects the capital-intensive nature of this growth.

The addition of another high-profile customer is likely to further strengthen investor sentiment, as the company positions itself at the center of the next phase of AI development.
